This vampire-themed tarot deck is not so much dark or gothic in style as it is gory, like a horror film. While it may be a fun deck for horror fans, it is not for the faint of heart. The deck’s theme is based upon the legend of Vlad the Impaler and Nosferatu.
The Duncan-Streeter deck was drawn by Melissa Streeter and Charles Vick Duncan, and then painted by Duncan. This unique tarot deck has a gory vampire theme, including some of Vlad’s victims who were impaled by swords or stakes (instead of wands), or had their blood drained into cups. Readings with this deck are not for the faint of heart, although meanings should not be taken as if they pertain to violence. Card meanings are based upon the standard Rider-Waite meanings, with only minor changes.
